St. Matthew 19:14 – “Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

Safe Haven/CACE

The Center for Academic and Cultural Enrichment (CACE) was birthed (2010) in response to the city of Chicago’s high dropout rate and the increased rates of incarceration among communities of color. CACE seeks to assist in dismantling the system of carceral injustice by focusing on literacy at the primary and secondary school levels. This program is in partnership with the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church One Church One School.

The Safe Haven ministry is in partnership with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), where the program operates throughout the year and in the summer providing safe passage and tutorial services. During COVID-19, the program is operating remotely providing students and families with “Well Being” checks and supporting students with remote learning. The program is free for all Chicago Public School students and is in close partnership with local primary and secondary community schools.
