Employment and Training Program

The Employment and Training Program at Allen Metropolitan CME Church started in 2022 in partnership with the State of Illinois to address the post covid-19 high unemployment rate in the state.  It has since  also become a resource for State anti-violence programs in a variety of neighborhoods. This program provides a 6-week job training course to those who are either unemployed or underemployed.  Courses, taught by certified professionals, are designed to help participants either gain entry level skills in some professions, and certifications for others.  Participants are also taught soft skills and money management to help them gain employment, keep positions for the long term and work towards financial independence.   We strive to include courses that will appeal to a variety of interests and skill levels and to develop relationships with various companies in the surrounding community who may need employees.  Courses have included HVAC, Culinary, Sound Engineering and more.
