Feeding the Multitude

The Feeding the Multitude Ministry of Allen Metropolitan C.M.E. Church has existed since 2010 and been in partnership with the Greater Chicago Food Depository since October 2018. The ministry provides free hot nutritious meals to the community every Wednesday from 4:00pm-6:00pm.

The ministry is a community collaborative partnership inclusive of the neighborhood schools, group homes, recovery homes, homeless shelters, the New Roseland Community Hospital, the Roseland Neighborhood Community Organization (RNCO) and most recently the Chicago Police Department Precinct Immigrant sites. Due to Covid-19, the community’s need for wholesome meals skyrocketed; increasing by four times the rate provided in the ministry’s first year.

Currently, all meals are prepared “To-Go” and many are delivered by church staff and community volunteers. Over one hundred and fifteen thousand (115,000) meals have been served since October of 2018.  The ministry is listed as a resource on the City of Chicago Emergency Management number (311).
